Bicycle selection is difficult?
Not at all, just know what to watch. First of all, you should be able to record which bike category meets your needs. Road, mountain, city are the main categories. Also important is the size and geometry of the bicycle. That's why we built this guide by trying to gather basic information divided into categories according to the type of bicycle.
We also on biketoys.gr do not underestimate the aesthetic part. Appearance counts! If someone tells you "but you chose it because it's red?" You jerk your head! Children's bicycles:
Children's bicycles, depending on the diameter of the wheel in inches, can be divided into different sizes. Based on the height and age of the child below we have created a table that will help you to choose the right size.
DIAMETER OF WHEEL | HEIGHT | AGE |
12" | 85-100cm | 2-4 |
14" | 100-110cm | 3-5 |
16" | 110-120cm | 5-7 |
18" | 115-125cm | 6-8 |
20" | 120-140cm | 8-10 |
24" | 135-150cm | 9-11+ |
Mountain Bikes Road bikes
The size of frame (shown in the above picture with blue color) of a bicycle is calculated by measuring the length of the lower tube (seat tube) to the top of the tube (where the seat supports are inserted). It is usually measured in cm for street bikes and inches ('') for mountain bikes. Most manufacturers also give the size of the bicycles in size small, medium, large etc.
Caution! The desired length of the vertical frame is different between mountain bikes and street bikes. As a rule, those bikes that say 'One Size' mean that they do for all riders by adjusting the saddle height. Now for the absolute geometry of bicycle and body you can follow the following tips.
City Bikes/Trekking/Fitness:
Choosing the Right Trekking / Travel bike Size: Wheel Size 26 '' & 28 '' This option is a result of the multiplication of our crotch height by 0.66 and so we end up with the theoretical value of the frame size we need in cm. If the theoretical value we have reached coincides with two frames numbers, then we follow the empirical rule, which is characterized by the type of use our bike will have. We choose the smallest size if the use we use is racing and intense. We choose the largest size if the use we make is a leisurely stroll. Alternatively, you can choose the right frame size according to your height using the table below.
HEIGHTS | SIZE FRAME | TO CM |
150-160cm | 16" | 46cm Lady (cube) |
160-170cm | 16"-17" | 50cm Lady (cube) |

Full Suspension (front and rear suspension) Mountain Bikes 26''-27.5''29'' inch:
Wheel Size 26''-27.5''-29''. This choice is a result of our crotch height multiplying by 0.225 and so we end up with the theoretical value of the skeleton size we need in inches. 1 inch equals 2.54 cm.
HEIGHT | SIZE FRAME | TO CM |
165-170cm | 16" | 40cm |
170-175cm | 16"-17" | 40-43cm |
175-180cm | 17"-18" | 43-46cm |
180-185cm | 18"-19" | 46-48cm |
185-160cm | 19"-20"-21" | 48-53-51cm |
150-160cm | 21"-22" | 53-56cm |
Hardtail (Bikes with front suspension) - Mountain Bikes 26''-27.5''29'' inches:
Wheel Size 26''-27.5''-29''. This choice is a result of our crotch height increasing by 0.226 and so we end up with the theoretical value of the frame size we need in inches. 1 inch is equivalent to 2.54 cm.

177-185cm | 19" | 48cm |
183-190cm | 21" | 53cm |
Road bikes:
Wheel Size 28''. This choice is a result of the increase of our crotch height by 0.665 and so we end up with the theoretical value of the frame size we need in cm.If the theoretical value we have reached coincides with two Frames numbers, then we follow the empirical rule, which is characterized by the type of use our bike will have. We choose the smallest size if the use we use is racing and intense. We choose the largest size if the use we make is a leisurely stroll.
